Elliana answered calmly, “I know how you feel, but we have to move wisely. The Thompsons definitely ran a DNA test on Amilia last night and probably already confirmed she is not their biological daughter.”
“A fake. Once that’s confirmed, they’ll start looking for the real daughter. We need to wait for them to reach out. It’ll be easier to bring Mom home once everything is out in the open.”
“You’re right. No point hiding anymore. I’m heading to you—we’ll wait for their call together,” Milton replied. Arthur added, “I’m coming too.”
Elliana didn’t stop them. She had worried they might blurt out her plans and alert the Thompsons, but now that events were unraveling on their own, secrecy no longer mattered.
Just then, Cole, who had been silent the whole time, wrote, “I’m coming as well.”
“Perfect,” Elliana typed.
“I’m grabbing breakfast downstairs first. Let’s meet at the hotel later.”
After confirming the plan, Elliana washed up, dressed, and opened the door. The hotel restaurant was on the third floor, so she needed to head down. She was still dressed as Dr. Atkinson in her men’s disguise.
The moment she stepped into the hallway, she stopped cold. A large group stood lined up outside her door. Edgar and Elsie were at the front. Rita stood to their left, while Kaleb and Jenifer flanked them on the right. The Thompson family’s uniformed servants and guards bowed the instant they saw her.
“Good morning, Elliana,” they chorused.
Elliana froze, stunned. Her mind short-circuited for a beat. Great—had they discovered who she really was? Before she could decide what to do, Rita crossed the room with a warm smile, took her hand, and whispered softly.
As Rita’s words registered, Elliana’s shock melted into delight.
“Mom, are the Thompsons really that quick?” she whispered back.
“As soon as they learned Amilia wasn’t related by blood, they figured you were their family?”
Rita chuckled.

“Your grandparents and uncle aren’t easy to fool. They suspected me almost immediately and ran a DNA test right away.”
She smiled and added, “Honestly, it’s because I look so much like your grandmother. After living with them for ten years, it was only natural they’d notice the resemblance.”
It wasn’t hard for them to connect the dots once Amilia was exposed.
Seeing her mother so radiant made Elliana’s heart feel light and full. After everything Maxine had stolen from them, Rita was finally back where she belonged.
